Mattress Mack Just Banked $75 Million on the Astros for the Largest Sports Betting Win Ever, and Now He’s Targeting a New Team
No one was happier than Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale when the Houston Astros won the World Series earlier this month, and that might include the players and coaches on the team.
Why? Because the second the Astros put away the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 6, McIngvale turned a $10 million wager into a $75 million profit, breaking the record for the most lucrative win in sports betting history.
Mattress Mack only took a few weeks to celebrate his historic payout before jumping right back into the game. On Tuesday, the Texas furniture tycoon targeted a new team for his next bet that could line his pockets with another $14 million.
Mattress Mack just won $75 million on the Astros
Mattress Mack has become a bit of a folk hero in the sports gambling world. For the last few years, McIngvale, who is the owner of Gallery Furniture in Houston, has offered a marketing campaign to his customers that promises refunds on furniture if his beloved Astros win the World Series.
To protect himself from massive losses on these refunds, the furniture salesman bets millions of dollars on Houston to win the World Series at the best odds he can find. This year, he pulled in his biggest win yet.
Mattress Mack bet a total of $10 million on Astros World Series futures throughout the season, and he banked $75 million when they finished the job. That $75 million broke the record for the largest win in sports betting history.
Most of McIngvale’s winnings went back to his Gallery Furniture customers, so he found a new team to back in the futures market.

McIngvale has shifted his focus to a new team with his larger-than-life bets, but he isn’t going far from home.
On Tuesday, Mattress Mack strolled into Beau Rivage Resort and Casino in Beloxi, Miss. and placed a $500,000 wager on the Houston Cougars (+1000 odds) to win the national championship in college basketball, per the Sun Herald. He later added another $1 million bet on Houston at DraftKings Sportsbook, per a tweet from Action Network.
In all, McIngvale’s two futures bets would net $14 million.
