Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh has offered a position on his staff to former quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Will Kaepernick accept the job?

Jim Harbaugh Offers Colin Kaepernick A Position On Staff

Kaepernick may have found his path back to the NFL.

While speaking to USA Today Sports, Harbaugh revealed he offered Kaepernick a position on his coaching staff.

“If that was ever the path he was to take, I think that would be tremendous,” Harbaugh said. “He’d be a tremendous coach, if that’s the path he chose.”

After taking the Chargers job in January, Harbaugh spoke to Kaepernick about joining the team as a coach, not a player. To date, Kaepernick has not accepted or denied the offer.

“Yeah, we talked a little bit about it,” Harbaugh said. “He’s considering it. He was out of the country. He said he was going to get back to me. We haven’t reconnected since then. That was early, early in the year.”

Colin Kaepernick Still Wants To Play In The NFL

Despite the coaching opportunity, Kaepernick still wants to play in the NFL.

“We’re still training, still pushing,” Kaepernick told Sky Sports News. “So hopefully. We’ve just got to get one of these team owners to open up.

Kaepernick last played during the 2016 season for the San Francisco 49ers.

During that final season, Kaepernick kneeled during the national anthem to protest police brutality and racial injustice.

Kaepernick sued the NFL and reached an undisclosed settlement after he felt the league’s owners blackballed him.

Despite the eight-year hiatus, Kaepernick still believes he can play at a high level.

Kaepernick said, “It’s something I’ve trained my whole life for, so to be able to step back on the field, I think that would be a major moment, a major accomplishment for me. I think I could bring a lot to a team and help them win a championship.”
