New York Jets edge rusher Haason Reddick has requested a trade. Why does Reddick want out? View his contract details below.

Haason Reddick Requests Trade

Per Jordan Schultz, Reddick has requested a trade from the Jets.

The request comes four months after the Jets acquired Reddick in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles. Philadelphia traded Reddick to New York for a conditional third-round selection.

The Jets pulled the trigger on a Reddick trade to bolster their defensive line after Bryce Huff signed a three-year, $51.1 million deal with the Eagles in March.

To afford Reddick, the Jets traded defensive end John Franklin-Myers to the Denver Broncos for a 2026 sixth-round pick.

Per SNY’s Connor Hughes, the Reddick’s representation informed the Jets he would play under his current contract. The Jets have also been willing to negotiate with Reddick to adjust his current deal, but only when he shows up to camp.

Reddick skipped New York’s entire offseason program and continues to hold out of training camp.

Haason Reddick Contract Details

Reddick is entering the final year of a three-year, $45 million contract. Reddick is set to make $14.25 million in non-guaranteed base pay, with a chance to earn $500,000 in incentives.

Reddick forfeited his $250,000 workout bonus by skipping the Jets’ offseason program. He will be fined $50,000 for every missed day of training camp.

After the request broke this afternoon, the Jets released a statement, explaining they have no plans to trade Reddick.

“We have informed Haason that we will not trade him, that he is expected to be here with his teammates, and that he will continue to be fined per the CBA if he does not report,” Jets general manager Joe Douglas said in a statement. “Since the trade discussions back in March we have been clear, direct, and consistent with our position. Our focus will remain on the guys we have here as we prepare for the regular season.”

Reddick has become one of the league’s best pass rushers, registering the fourth-most sacks (27) over the last two seasons.

Reddick has at least 11 sacks in four consecutive seasons.
