Cameron Boozer announced his commitment to Duke on Friday morning along with his brother Cayden. The 2025 top prospect has dominated the high school and AAU scene and plenty of scouts (myself included) view him as the clear top prospect in the country. Carlos Boozer’s son should immediately thrive on both ends of the floor at Duke and eventually in the NBA.

Playing on the Nike EYBL circuit this summer for Nightrydas Elite, Boozer averaged 22.9 points, 12.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game on a stellar 67.5% true shooting, per Synergy. He’s a dominant two-way force, dominating physically, mentally and skill-wise. He just turned 17 in July, making Boozer one of the youngest prospects in his class.

Cameron Boozer’s dominant scoring

Boozer overwhelms opponents on the interior. He converted an absurd 71.8% of his shots at the rim in the half-court. Few prospects boast the size, touch and coordination Boozer does. When Boozer isn’t dunking over defenders, he’ll scoop shots in with touch. Late in his high school career, Boozer has developed into an elite big-man scorer.

He’ll seal off defenders in the lane early, showcase his deep post toolkit and cut to the rim. Many top prospects aren’t as willing to commit to dirty work as Boozer does, carving space in the paint and wearing down defenders in the lane.

Boozer’s perimeter offense is lethal as well, as he spent his earlier years in high school initiating from the outside. The 6’10 wing wins with incredible size and coordination off of the dribble to the rim. While Boozer’s handle isn’t dynamic, it’s enough to fuel

. Boozer drives through, past and around defenders of all sizes.

Solid three-point shooting rounds out a complete offensive package — Boozer shot 33.3% (30/90) from deep this year and 84% from the line. Off of the catch, Boozer shot a sturdy 35.5%. He’s a deadly pick-and-pop threat with his shooting and driving threat. Boozer creates his own threes off of the dribble on occasion. His elite mid-range jumper bodes well for future shooting growth.

Cameron Boozer’s versatlity

When defenders key in on his scoring, Boozer flexes his playmaking muscle. His 1.6 assist-to-turnover ratio represents Boozer’s elite decision-making. He rarely makes mistakes, always decisive with the ball to punish defenders. He’ll skip passes and thread to cutters from the post with the versatility to playmaker out of the pick and roll. Boozer understands his heavy scoring gravity and punishes defenders consistently.

Cameron Boozer fires outlet passes to push the break to fit Nightrydas’ transition attack. Few AAU teams combine talent and schematic goodness like this Nightrydas team, creating easy looks with motion. Boozer’s experience playing with a pro-level decision-making load should fare well for his college and NBA future.

He thrives on the defensive end, regularly guarding all positions at the point of attack. Boozer is fluid enough to slide with some guards and strong enough to check bigger players. Some explosive wings can burst past Boozer, but he’s bothered all of the country’s best at some point or another. He’s a wall in the post, always maintaining verticality with solid shot-blocking chops.

While Boozer isn’t an elite rim protector, he’s a phenomenal off-ball defender. Averaging 1.2 steals per game, Boozer disrupts offensive plans with his sharp positioning, reflexes and physical tools. His versatility on that end will let him fill whichever role his team needs.

Cameron Boozer’s long-term outlook

Regardless of how much it influences his long-term success, Boozer wins at all levels. His Nightrydas Elite team won Peach Jam at the 15u, 16u and 17u levels. Boozer has dominated international competition, leading a generationally stacked USA team to constant tournament wins.

Wherever Cameron Boozer goes, basketball success seems to follow. Some of that may fall on chance but players like Boozer change the outlook of teams. Even if Boozer isn’t as flashy as some of his prospect peers, his sometimes inconspicuous dominance matters. At the current level and possibly at the college level, he’s a full-fledged primary option.

Boozer’s efficient, versatile scoring alongside his youth and size begets superstar NBA potential. He’s better than a 17-year-old Paolo Banchero was, an NBA star scouts liken Boozer to. His blend of size, skill, athletic tools and feel for the game tend to point toward future star development.

There’s no shortage of elite NBA players to develop at Duke, which should end up as another stacked roster in 2025. Cayden Boozer is a worthy pro prospect and the twins will attract other recruits.

We shouldn’t underrate Cameron Boozer’s ceiling. At Duke, there’s a strong chance he will cement himself as the top pick in a loaded 2025 draft class. If Boozer’s winning ways continue, the Blue Devils could return to the mountaintop with a strong enough roster. That’s the kind of transformational power a player of Boozer’s, Cooper Flagg’s or AJ Dybantsa’s caliber brings.
