Drake Places 'First Ever Cricket Bet' on KKR to Win IPL 2024

Drake, the five-time Grammy-winning Canadian rapper, placed his “first cricket bet,” a $250,000 wager on Shah Rukh Khan’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to win the IPL 2024 final against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The Indian Premier League (IPL) was established in 2008.

Drake won $425,000 from his $250,000 bet on KKR to defeat SRH in the IPL 2024 final

In a story shared by Drake on Instagram, he posted a screenshot of his bet on KKR, showing odds of 1.70 for a win. Drake, 37, also had “Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo,” KKR’s motto, in the caption of the story.

After the rapper placed his $250,000 bet, KKR went on to win the match by eight wickets on Sunday in Chennai. The Shreyas Iyer-led KKR won their third IPL title after previous victories in 2012 and 2014.

KKR led the points table in the group stage and then defeated SRH in Qualifier 1 by eight wickets. SRH, who won in 2016, finished second on the points table in the league stage.

After a loss in Qualifier 1, SRH went on to beat Rajasthan Royals by 36 runs in Qualifier 2.

Drake won $425,000, according to the betting slip he posted.

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) are the most successful IPL clubs in cricket, with each franchise winning five championships. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) bowler Virat Kohli has the most runs with 8,004.

Rapper bets on Formula 1, UFC, NFL, NBA, and online casino game

Moreover, Drake is known for making ridiculous wagers via online casino and sports betting sites. In May 2023, he won over $17 million with one roulette spin. That same month, the rapper also lost over $660,000 on Formula 1 and UFC bets.

At the 2022 FIFA World Cup final, he bet $1 million for Argentina to win — in average time. During the match, Argentina was two goals ahead until about 10 minutes from the end. Moments later, Mbappe tied the score with two goals and sent the match into extra time.

As a result, Drake missed out on winning $2.74 million because Argentina fell short of winning in 90 minutes.

Argentina went on to win the championship on penalties.

In 2022, Drake also lost a $2 million bet on a UFC middleweight fight between Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira.

Drake wagered on Adesanya, who was then defeated by Pereira through a technical knockout.

Additionally, he recently won $2.34 million from a $1.15 million bet on the Kansas City Chiefs against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.

Because his first cricket wager was a success, the rapper will likely bet on the sport again in the future.

As of May 2024, Drake has an estimated net worth of about $250 million.
