Jason Sanders drilled a 52-yard field goal as time expired, lifting the Miami Dolphins to a thrilling 20-17 season-opening win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday in Miami Gardens. Trailing 17-7 at halftime, Miami’s defense stepped up, shutting out the Jaguars in the second half to pave the way for the comeback victory.
De’Von Achane significantly impacted the passing game and led the Dolphins in snaps, playing 37 compared to Raheem Mostert’s 31. Though the workload was fairly split, Jeff Wilson Jr. contributed late with 11 snaps, making the most of his fresh legs by averaging 5.2 yards on five carries. Overall, the ground game lacked explosiveness, with neither Mostert nor Achane finding much success running the ball.
