The Los Angeles Dodgers spent much of the 2024 MLB season atop the leaderboard when it came to the shortest odds of winning the World Series. They’re a step closer after advancing to the National League Championship Series on Friday, where they’ll once again be favored against the New York Mets.

Dodgers Advance To NLCS For First Time Since 2021

They suffered quite the scare in the NLDS against San Diego. The Dodgers found themselves down 2 games to 1 in the best-of-5 series against the division rival Padres, but held San Diego to 24 straight scoreless innings between games 3 and 5 to secure their victory.

It will be the first NLCS appearance for the mighty Dodgers since 2021, as the last couple of seasons have ended in disappointment during the divisional round. During that 2021 season, they fell in 6 games to the eventual champion Atlanta Braves.

Their counterpart for the upcoming series will be a Mets team that clawed its way back into contention after being written off early in the year. New York will be a clear betting underdog for the series, though the lines aren’t as drastic as one might expect.

As of Saturday morning, the Mets were listed at +150 for the series (according to DraftKings). They’ll be the road team for the first two games of the set, and don’t have the star-studded batting order that Los Angeles boasts.

The Dodgers, on the other hand, come in as a -180 favorite. This gives them implied odds of roughly 65% to win the set and advance to the World Series.

LA Listed At -180 For Series, Ohtani Favorite To Win MVP

While they are clear favorites to win the NLCS, they have some serious competition in the American League. The New York Yankees have been one of the teams listed as a favorite along with the Dodgers all season long, and are sitting at +180 to win the World Series. The Dodgers have slightly shorter odds, coming in at +160.

Three of the players with the shortest odds of winning NLCS MVP are on Los Angeles’ roster. Shohei Ohtani is of course the big favorite at +250, while Mookie Betts (+750) and Teoscar Hernandez (+850) are in the top 4. Francisco Lindor is the Mets player with the shortest MVP odds, sitting at +500.

Game 1 will be played in Los Angeles on Monday night, with the first pitch being thrown at 5:15PM local time. The Dodgers are listed at -160 on the money line for the game.
