The 2024-25 College Football Playoff will look entirely different this year. Instead of four teams, 12 teams will make this year’s playoff. The first rankings are coming soon. Find out when the College Football Playoff Committee rankings will be released.

First College Football Playoff Rankings

The first College Football Playoff Selection Committee rankings will be revealed on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.

This season, 12 teams will make the College Football Playoff. The four highest-ranked conference champions will be seeded No. 1-4. These four teams will receive a first-round bye.

The fifth-highest-ranked conference champion will be seeded where it was ranked or at No. 12 if outside the rankings.

The rest of the playoff will include the seven highest-ranked at-large teams. Seeds No. 5-12 will play in the first round, with the higher seeds hosting the games on campus or at a site of their choosing.

After the first round, the bracket will determine opponents: No. 1 vs. No. 8/9 winner, No. 4 vs. No. 5/12 winner, No. 2 vs. 7/10 winner, and No. 3 vs. 6/11 winner.

The winners advance to the semifinals, with a chance to go to the championship.

The 2025 College Football National Championship will be played on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, in Atlanta, Georgia, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
