Liverpool's Mohamed Salah Is One Of The Leading Scorers In The Premier League Since 2022-23

Former Chelsea man Chris Sutton has predicted a close contest between Crystal Palace and Liverpool in the Premier League this week. Sutton is not sure the Reds will be at their best this season but still backed them to come away with a 2-1 victory from their trip to Selhurst Park.

Chris Sutton Predicts Narrow Liverpool Win at Crystal Palace

Previewing the match in his BBC column, Sutton wrote:

It is always a balancing act for clubs in the Champions League and the Premier League, but especially so for Liverpool here, away from home and with the early kick-off.

For Arne Slot’s side, it is just about getting a win, however they do it, going into the international break. They got over the line against Bologna on Wednesday without being at their best and, while I expect this to be close, I do see them getting the job done against a Crystal Palace team who are in a bit of bother really.”

He added:

Along with Wolves, Southampton, Leicester and Ipswich, the Eagles are one of five teams without a league win so far.

Oliver Glasner got some great results when he took charge last season but he has got to be careful – at this rate, Roy Hodgson will be back in charge by Christmas.

Sutton’s prediction: Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

Crystal Palace vs Liverpool: Form Watch

Palace has endured a difficult start to the 2024-25 Premier League season. Glasner’s side has played six games, suffering three losses and playing out three draws. The Eagles have scored nine goals and conceded nine. With just three points to their name, Palace are toiling in 18th place in the Premier League rankings.

Liverpool, meanwhile, has enjoyed life under Slot. Except for the shock 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest at home, the Reds have won all their games in the English top flight. They have scored 12 goals and conceded just two, emerging as the most defensively sound team in the business. With 15 points on the board, the Merseysiders are sitting at the top of the Premier League rankings. Liverpool have also been spotless in the UEFA Champions League, beating AC Milan 3-1 and Bologna 2-1 on consecutive Matchdays.
