Kansas City Chiefs offensive linemen Wanya Morris and Chukwuebuka Godrick were arrested Thursday night in Johnson County, Kansas, on a misdemeanor first-degree marijuana/THC possession charge.

Of course, Kansas is one of four states where marijuana is fully illegal, according to drug testing company DISA Global Solutions. Other states include Idaho, South Carolina, and Wyoming.
Morris and Chukwuebuka, who are both 23 years old, were booked into jail and released Friday after posting $2,500 bonds. The two were arraigned in court Friday and are due to return on May 23.
The Chiefs said they are aware of the arrests, but the organization had no further comment.

Morris was the Chiefs’ third-round draft pick in 2023. He started four games at left tackle as a rookie in place of the injured Donovan Smith. The Chiefs have said Morris would compete for the starting left tackle spot this season with rookie Kingsley Suamataia, a second-round draft pick.
Godrick also joined the Chiefs last season as their designated international pathway player. He spent the entire NFL season on the practice squad.

Both players won a ring last season when Kansas City defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime of Super Bowl LVIII. The 2023 Chiefs became the first NFL team since the 2004 New England Patriots to win back-to-back championships.
Furthermore, another Chiefs player made headlines in recent months for breaking the law. Wide receiver Rashee Rice was arrested in Dallas in March for his involvement in a six-car crash that injured at least seven people.
According to the police report, Rice was driving 119 mph on North Central Expressway before causing the crash. Rice is facing one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury, and six counts of collision involving injury.
Rice is also a suspect in an alleged assault that injured a man in a Dallas nightclub. Police were dispatched at 2:30 am on May 6 after an assault was reported. A man was found to have non-life-threatening injuries, including swelling on one side of his face.
Putting aside legal trouble, Rice serves as a decent wideout option for the Chiefs. The 6-foot-1 receiver was selected 55th overall in the second round of last year’s draft.
During Kansas City’s Super Bowl run, Rice set the NFL record for most playoff receptions (26) by a rookie. His 26 receptions were one more than previous record-holder Cincinnati Bengals’ Ja’Marr Chase two years prior.
