Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Brandin Cooks suffered an injury following the team’s Week 4 victory over the New York Giants. How much time will the Cowboys wide receiver miss?

Brandin Cooks Injury: Recovery Timeline

Following the Cowboys’ win over the Giants, Cooks underwent a procedure on high right knee, per ESPN’s Todd Archer.

Cooks developed an infection in that same knee following the procedure in New York. After he developed symptoms, Cooks had surgery to clean out the infection in Dallas over the weekend.

Cook is out for Sunday’s Week 5 contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Cooks could miss more time if the knee doesn’t heal.

Cooks, 31, has nine catches for 91 yards and a touchdown in four games this season.

The Cowboys acquired Cooks from the Houston Texans during the 2023 NFL offseason. The Cowboys traded a 2023 fifth-round pick and a 2024 sixth-round pick to the Texans for Cooks.

Serving as the Cowboys’ second option, Cooks caught 54 catches for 657 and eight touchdowns in 2023.

Cowboys WR Depth Chart

With Cooks out for the foreseeable future, which Cowboys receivers will see an increased role?

CeeDee Lamb remains the clear No. 1 option for Dak Prescot. Lamb has 20 receptions for 316 yards and two touchdowns in four games.

The likely replacement for Cooks is Jalen Tolbert, though Jalen Brooks, KaVontae Turpin, and Ryan Flournoy could compete for targets.

Expect tight end Jake Ferguson’s production to increase in Cooks’ absence.

If the Cowboys want to make a move, Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams recently requested a trade. Per BetOnline, the Cowboys are longshots to land Adams at +6600 odds.

The Cowboys (2-2) travel to Pittsburgh to play the Steelers (3-1) in Week 5 on Sunday Night Football.
