September is Responsible Gaming Education Month and BetMGM has partnered with the American Gaming Association (AGA). They want to help promote responsible gambling across the NFL as the season is set to kick off this Thursday. Lamar Jackson and the Ravens will travel to Kansas City to face Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. It’s a rematch of the AFC championship game last season. To help promote responsible gambling across the NFL, BetMGM plans to increase the exposure of the GameSense platform in nine different NFL stadiums. GameSense was developed by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) and originally licensed to MGM in 2017. Together, BetMGM and MGM were the first operators to promote responsible gaming practices in NFL stadiums.

The 2024 season could be BetMGM’s biggest yet

A week before BetMGM made its announcement about responsible gambling, the NFL extended its partnership with the National Council on Problem Gaming (NCPG). The league gave $6.4 million to the NCPG. Recently, they took steps to clarify league betting policies. This was done to avoid a betting scandal in the NFL. Players across the league are aware they are prohibited from wagering on any NFL game. Additionally, they are not allowed to use a proxy to place wagers for them. Recently, BetMGM announced a $440,000 contribution to fund responsible gaming research at the International Center for Responsible Gaming and Kindbridge Research Institute.

Several stadiums across the NFL will have more responsible gambling ads featured via BetMGM. They include Acrisure Stadium, Allegiant Stadium, Empower Field at Mile High, Ford Field, GHEA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, M&T Bank Stadium, MetLife Stadium, Nissan Stadium, and State Farm Stadium. The BCLC announced that GameSense will expand its support to BetMGM. GameSense is an industry-leading player-focused education program. This is the first time a U.S. gaming operator is using GameSense, which was developed by BCLC. BetMGM Chief Executive Officer Adam Greenblatt had this to say about the partnership with GameSense.

As the mobile gaming industry in the U.S. continues to grow, responsible gambling is a key focus for BetMGM and is critically important for the industry as a whole,” said Greenblatt. “GameSense presents a forward-thinking approach to responsible gambling. We look forward to empowering our players with a proven program, designed to help support a positive gambling experience.”
