Former bantamweight champion and current featherweight contender Aljamain Sterling has been forced to withdraw from his upcoming fight against Movsar Evloev at UFC 307 on October 5 due to injury.

Sterling announced the news on his YouTube channel, stating that he suffered an injury that, while not serious enough to require surgery, will prevent him from competing in the next few months.

“I’m incredibly disappointed to announce that I’m going to have to withdraw from my fight against Movsar Evloev at UFC 307,” Sterling said. “I sustained an injury that, while not serious, will prevent me from being able to train and compete at the level I need to be at for this fight.”

Sterling apologized to Evloev and the fans for the late notice, and expressed his hope that they can reschedule the fight for later in the year.
