The UFC headed back to the fight capital for a jam-packed International Fight Week where all fight fans flock to Las Vegas to check out the week of UFC festivities and of course head over to the T-Mobile Arena to see the stacked UFC 303 event that delivered. In the main event, we saw the reigning and defending UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Alex Pereira retain his title for a second time when blasted Jiri Prochazka into another dimension with a second-round head kick knockout.
In the co-main event, it was supposed to be a featherweight fight between Brian Ortega and Diego Lopes but then the fight was agreed to be at lightweight after Ortega had a rough time trying to make the 146 lbs limit. Then hours before fight time Ortega fell ill and had to withdraw from the fight coming to save the day was Dan Ige who took the fight on a few hours’ notice at a catchweight of 165 lbs. While Ige did lose a unanimous decision he poured it on late in the 3rd round and put up a great fight against one of the hottest prospects in the UFC.
The rest of this card was littered with great fights like Andre Fili vs. Cub Swanson, and then you have the jaw-dropping knockouts by Joe Pyfer, Jean Silva, and Payton Talbott. All in all, it was a fantastic event that had many UFC fans, old and new, on the edge of their seats. As the dust settles after a big PPV like UFC 303, many fighters get an influx of new fans or potentially lose fans in some cases. We looked over the fighters at UFC 303 and analyzed the data to see who had gained the most Instagram followers after their fight at UFC 303.

The popularity of these fighters comes and goes in the blink of an eye which is why the UFC tells the fighters that they need to be on social media to market themselves. Without social media, it’s hard for the newer fans to know about you since most fighters are fighting up to 3 times a year barring any injuries. Since it’s been just a couple of days since UFC 303, let’s take a look at the current state of the growth of their followers since the PPV.

In the UFC, there is only so much promotion they can do for the fighter so it is up to the fighter to have a presence on social media. That helps the fighters with endorsements, investments, and bigger fighting opportunities as well. This is just a small sample of what fighting under the bright lights inside the Octagon can do to one’s popularity and it shows that Alex Pereira continues to grow as one of the sport’s biggest stars.
