49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk Requests Trade: Potential Destinations.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has requested a trade. If Aiyuk is dealt, which team will acquire the wide receiver? View the list of Aiyuk’s potential destinations below.

49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk Requests Trade

Per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Aiyuk has requested a trade from the 49ers after failing to reach a long-term extension this offseason.

Garafolo’s report states the 49ers have been unwilling to engage in negotiations since May.

Aiyuk is set to make $14.124 million in 2024-2025, the fifth and final year of his rookie contract.

Aiyuk is coming off his best season as a pro, with 75 catches for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns. The former first-round pick was named Second-team All-Pro in 2023.

Just because Aiyuk requested a trade does not mean he will be traded. The 49ers want to keep Aiyuk long-term, but the increasing value of wide receivers this offseason has made contract negotiations difficult. After the 2021-2022 season, 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. requested a trade. However, San Francisco eventually signed Samuel later that offseason to a three-year, $73.5 million contract.

Brandon Aiyuk’s Potential Destinations

If Aiyuk is traded, where will he end up?

Two potential landing spots for Aiyuk are the Washington Commanders and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Earlier this offseason, Aiyuk went on The Pivot podcast and mentioned Washington and Pittsburgh as two destinations where he could see himself playing.

“If I were to take a guess, probably a Niners uniform,” Aiyuk said. “Probably a Niners uniform, but if not a Niners uniform, probably a Washington Commander uniform. If not a Washington Commanders uniform, then probably a Steelers uniform.”

We’ll see if Aiyuk reports to the 49ers training camp when the veterans arrive on July 23.
