There aren’t many exciting matchups on the Week 7 NFL slate, but the afternoon showdown between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs surely has our attention. You know we have to get some action down on the premier game of the day, so let’s have some fun with a few first touchdown scorer bets.

Here are the three players I’m targeting to score the first touchdown in 49ers-Chiefs.

Isiah Pacheco +1000

There’s a new starting running back in Kansas City.

On Sunday morning, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reported Pacheco took first-team reps in practice this week and is expected to start over Clyde Edwards-Helaire against the 49ers. Pacheco has been effective with his touches so far in his rookie season, but he’s only found the end zone once in six games.

I think that changes this week with an increased workload, so I’ll take a chance on Kansas City’s new starter at +1000 (FanDuel).

Brandon Aiyuk +1500

The Chiefs are 4-2 through six games this season, but their passing defense has held them back from possibly being 6-0. Kansas City has allowed an NFL-high 15 passing touchdowns this year, so even though the 49ers don’t have a prolific passing offense, Jimmy Garoppolo should be able to have success throwing to his talented weapons on the outside.

Deebo Samuel is the lowest-priced (+750) San Francisco player to score first, but Brandon Aiyuk is much more enticing at +1500. Aiyuk has just two fewer catches than Samuel on the season, and he’s scored the most receiving touchdowns on the team. I think he’ll continue to be a focal point of this passing game in the red zone this week.

Patrick Mahomes +3300

Patrick Mahomes has scored two rushing touchdowns in each of the last four regular seasons. He hasn’t found the end zone this year despite rushing for 113 yards through six games, so he’s due to score one soon.

The 49ers aren’t going to let Mahomes beat them over the top, so I think the superstar QB will have plenty of chances to tuck and run, especially in the red zone. At 33/1, Mahomes is worth a sprinkle.
