2022 NFL Draft: Grades for Logan Hall and Every Other Tampa Bay Buccaneers Pick

The 2021 season obviously didn’t end as successfully as the 2020 campaign did for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and it looked as if things were only going to get worse when Tom Brady announced his retirement.

But TB12’s retirement lasted just 40 days, and he’ll be back under center for the Bucs in 2022. But Bruce Arians won’t be on the sidelines for Tampa Bay as he felt comfortable enough taking a front-office job and leaving the team in the hands of former defensive coordinator Todd Bowles.

And defense was where the Buccaneers needed the most help in the 2022 NFL Draft, and that’s the direction they went with their first pick, selecting Houston defensive end Logan Hall. But they went away from the defensive side of the football for the following four selections.

No. 57 Overall: Luke Goedeke, OT, Central Michigan
No. 91 Overall: Rachaad White, RB, Arizona State
No. 106 Overall: Cade Otton, TE, Washington
No. 133 Overall: Jake Camarda, P, Georgia
No. 157 Overall: Zyon McCollum, CB, Sam Houston State
No. 218 Overall: Ko Kieft, TE, Minnesota
No. 248 Overall: Andre Anthony, DE/OLB, LSU

No. 33 Overall: Logan Hall, DE, Houston

This is a solid pick for the Buccaneers. While they could have also gone with UConn’s Travis Jones, Hall should fit in nicely with Tampa Bay’s defensive scheme. He’s got a lot of length and plenty of size at 6’6″ and 260 pounds. He should come in and make an impact almost immediately.

No. 57 Overall: Luke Goedeke, OT, Central Michigan

This is a solid-enough pick for the Bucs. While not a household name by any means, Goedeke is precisely the type of guy Tampa Bay needed at this point in the draft. They lost two offensive linemen this offseason, and this pick helps fill that void.

No. 91 Overall: Rachaad White, RB, Arizona State

The Buccaneers could use a running back of the future to step in once Leonard Fournette and Giovani Bernard are no longer carrying the load, but this was a massive reach. It’s shocking they didn’t prefer at least one of Isaiah Spiller, Brian Robinson Jr., Jerome Ford, Zamir White, Dameon Pierce, and Ty Chandler. Even if they didn’t, they could’ve traded or waited.

No. 106 Overall: Cade Otton, TE, Washington

No surprise that the Bucs took a tight end given the loss of O.J Howard and the unknown status of Rob Gronkowski. Nice pick to start Round 4.

Grade: B

No. 133 Overall: Jake Camarda, P, Georgia

I’ve said it for other teams, and I’ll say here it as well. Punters and kickers in the fourth round don’t make sense to me. Even if they are talented, which Camarda is.

Grade: C-

No. 157 Overall: Zyon McCollum, CB, Sam Houston State

Many had McCollum going a round earlier, so this is a good value for the Bucs, who certainly need help at cornerback.

Grade: B+

No. 218 Overall: Ko Kieft, TE, Minnesota

So the Bucs traded up to take a guy who caught seven passes for 101 yards and one touchdown this past season? Not seeing it.

Grade: D

No. 248 Overall: Andre Anthony, DE/OLB, LSU

This is a better choice, for sure, despite the fact that Anthony missed the vast majority of the 2021 season with a knee injury. But he recorded 3.5 sacks in the three games he did play.

Grade: B-
