Defending National Champs Have Most Expensive Home Opener

Fresh off of their National Championship victory last season, the Michigan Wolverines will have the most expensive get-in price for a home opener in the Big Ten. A single ticket to their game against the Fresno State Bulldogs on August 31st costs $89, according to SeatGeek, which is nearly twice as expensive as any other home opener in the Big Ten.

In comparison to their rivals over at Ohio State, Michigan’s home opener ticket price is 93% more expensive. The Buckeyes have the second-priciest ticket in the conference at $46 for their game against Akron University, with Michigan State close behind at $45 for their early season date with Florida Atlantic.

Newcomers Have Some Of The Pricier Tickets In The Conference

There were some serious changes made to the Big 10 Conference for the upcoming season. Four new schools will join the mix, all coming from the Pac-12, and they will have some of the higher ticket prices for their college football home openers.

The USC Trojans have the most expensive get-in price of the four new schools in the conference and the fourth most expensive overall. Fans can attend their September 1st game against Utah State for as little as $43. USC will actually play at a neutral site the week before when they take on LSU inside Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The game has a $145 get-in price, which would have made it the most expensive on the list.

Cheapest Prices Are At Purdue, Maryland, and Illinois

Two of the least expensive home openers throughout the Big 10 will take place in the state of Illinois. The cheapest ticket for the 18 games is Purdue’s home opener against Indiana State, which has a listing of $4 as the get-in price. Two teams are tied for the second cheapest, with Illinois and Maryland both coming in at $6.

The overall average is relatively inexpensive for the Big 10 home openers. Including the higher prices of the Michigan, Ohio State, and USC tickets, the median cost of the 18 contests comes in at just $27.70, and nine of them can be attended for less than $20.

Michigan vs Texas Will Be Among Hottest Tickets In 2024

One of the most expensive tickets for any college football game this upcoming season will be for the Week 2 contest between Michigan and Texas.

It will be a home game for the Wolverines and will feature a matchup between two powerhouses who will both likely enter as top-5 teams in the nation.

The current get-in price is listed at a whopping $473 for a single ticket.
