Why Was Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson Postponed?

After beating US pro boxer Ryan Bourland in the first round by technical knockout in December 2023, the next intended fight for Jake Paul was set to be against former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson on July 20 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

However, the huge money-spinning bout hit the ropes in late May after Mike Tyson (57) suffered an ulcer flare-up while on a plane – prompting doctors to say he needs rest and, therefore, having to postpone his clash with Jake Paul.

The good news for boxing fans is the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight will still take place, with the new date November 15, 2024 and at the original Texas venue.

Jake Paul vs Mike Perry Betting Preview

With Jake Paul primed to fight, it was announced that Mike Perry, who is a former UFC fighter and bare knuckle fighting champion, will step into the ring to fulfill the July 20 date, that had been originally for Mike Tyson.

32 year-old Perry, who is 5 years older that Paul, brings an undefeated (5-from-5) bare knuckle fight record to the table and was last seen in the ring on April 27, 2024, when beating Thiago Alves in the main BKFC Knucklemania IV event in LA – winning with a first round knockout.

However, the last (and only time) Mike Perry has fought in a pro boxing fight was back in March 2015, when losing in the 4th round to Kenneth McNeil. Perry is also no stranger to being a ‘back-up’ fighter in these popular YouTuber clashes – having also been the reserve in the Logan Paul vs Dillon Danis clash back in October 2023.

Therefore, Jake Paul not only has five years younger legs than Mike Perry, but also more experience in the boxing ring with 10 past fights.

Paul’s only loss came at the hands of Tommy Fury, the half-brother of former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, by split decision in February 2023 – a fight that is reported to have attracted over 800k pay-per-view watchers.

Jake Paul Fight Record

  • Age: 27
  • Fights: 10
  • Wins: 9 (6 KO’s)
  • Losses: 1 (split decision to Tommy Fury)

Mike Perry Fight Record

  • Age: 32
  • MMA Record: 14-8 (11 KO wins, 3 decision wins/1 KO loss, 1 submission loss, 6 decision losses) (UFC Record 7-8 – lost more than he won in UFC, lost 4 of his last 5 fights)
  • Bare Knuckle Boxing Record: 5-0 (undefeated, 3 KOs, 2 decisions)
  • Pro Boxing Record: 0-1 (lost by KO to Kenneth McNeil back in 2015)
  • Triad Combat Record: 1-0 (decision win)

Jake Paul vs Mike Perry Best Bet

Mike Perry will be a formidable opponent for Jake Paul and heads into the fight off the back of an easy win over Thiago Alves in California at the end of April in a bare knuckle event.

However, Perry is now sporting the gloves and will face a fighter that has only lost once. With that in mind, Jake Paul is expected to come out on top here and despite being slight odds-on in the betting at -190, he’s taken to win this fight by knockout.

This will then set Paul up nicely to revisit his intended clash with 57 year-old Mike Tyson – who will actually be 58 by the time the fight comes around on November 15, with the former heavyweight champ having a birthday on June 30th.

Best Bet: Jake Paul to Win at -190
