The latest injury update indicates that Drake Maye could feature in Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans.

Drake Maye Injury Update

The New England Patriots rookie quarterback is still recovering from a concussion suffered in Week 7, and it has been up in the air whether he will be given the OK for Week 8.

Maye, who has shown promise in his first NFL season, was placed in the concussion protocol last Sunday after a hard hit during the Patriots’ victory over the New York Jets.

Since then, he has been progressing through the NFL’s concussion protocol, which involves multiple stages of medical evaluation and clearance.

As of Friday, Maye is currently in Phase 4 of the protocol, which allows players to participate in non-contact drills, such as throwing, catching, and running.

However, they must still undergo neurocognitive and balance testing to advance to the final phase and receive clearance to return to full practice and game action.

The latest reports indicate that Maye is now more likely to play on Sunday than not.

Jerod Mayo Has Confidence In Jacoby Brissett To Replace Maye

Head coach Jerod Mayo confirmed that Maye will be a limited participant in practice on Friday. While Mayo expressed optimism about Maye’s potential return, he also acknowledged the possibility that veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett may need to start.

“Look, any given day, any player can just wake up with something and not be able to play,” Mayo said. “I will say this, if (Maye) can’t play, we have enough faith and confidence in Jacoby to be able to step in and help us win.”

The Patriots will make a final determination on Maye’s status closer to game time. If he is unable to play, Brissett will likely take over as the starting quarterback.
