Freddie Freeman Joins Elite Company In Dodgers World Series Game 4 Loss
The Los Angeles Dodgers came up short in their attempt at sweeping the New York Yankees on Tuesday night. The Yankees were able to stave off elimination with an 11-4 victory, keeping them alive for a World Series that has one final game in New York on Wednesday. But in the loss, first baseman Freddie Freeman continued his dominance at the plate, hitting yet another home run to add to his growing total.

The long ball that will be remembered happened in Game 1. In what has been the most exciting game of the series so far, a hobbled Freeman had his Kirk Gibson moment when he hit the first walk off grand slam in World Series history in the bottom of the 10th inning. It will likely be known as the signature moment should the Dodgers hold on and win the championship, but the 35–year-old was just getting started.
Freeman has been Los Angeles’ most productive player, mostly by way of the home run. His four dingers are tied for the 2nd most in a single World Series, on par with a group of guys that includes Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and Barry Bonds.
Freeman Extends Personal Record In Game 4 Loss
Should he hit another home run at some point in this World Series, Freddie Freeman would move into a tie for first place for the most homers in a single championship series. The only player to have hit five are George Springer (2017), Chaste Utley (2009), and Reggie Jackson (1977).
Freddie Freeman has done it.

While he will join others with his single-series performance, Freeman extended his own personal record in Game 4. He set a record in Game 3 by hitting a home run in his 5th-straight World Series game, dating back to his appearance with the Atlanta Braves in 2021. His long ball on Tuesday extended his record to 6.
Game 5 will be played on Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium, with the pitching matchup figured to be Garrit Cole vs. Jack Flaherty. First pitch is scheduled for 8:08PM Eastern.
