San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk suffered a knee injury in Sunday’s 28-18 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Find out how much time the star receiver will miss.

Brandon Aiyuk Injury

It’s the worst-case scenario for Aiyuk, as an MRI confirmed the 49ers WR suffered a torn ACL and MCL on Sunday, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Aiyuk will miss the remainder of the 2024 season and faces a tough road back after surgery.

Aiyuk suffered the injury in the last minute of the first half when he caught a pass from Brock Purdy and collided with Kansas City’s defensive backs Chamarri Conner and Trent McDuffie. Aiyuk needed to be carted off the field.

After the game, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters that his initial fears were an ACL injury. Now, those fears are a reality.

Aiyuk ends his disappointing 2024 campaign with 25 catches for 374 yards.

Aiyuk held out most of the training camp due to a contract dispute. After the team considered trading Aiyuk, the receiver eventually agreed to a four-year, $120 million extension with San Francisco on August 29.

49ers Continue To Disappoint In 2024

After Sunday’s loss, the 49ers move to 3-4, a far cry from their 2023 season when they represented the NFC in the Super Bowl.

The Aiyuk injury is another blow to a 49ers’ offense that has been without Christian McCaffrey all season.

Despite rushing for two touchdowns on Sunday, Purdy struggled to throw the ball, completing 17 of 31 passes for 212 yards and three interceptions.

The 49ers host the Dallas Cowboys (3-3) on Sunday Night Football in Week 8.
