Pennsylvania generated over $500 million in gaming revenue for September

Last Thursday, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported $505.9 million in taxable gaming revenue for September. That was a 6.2% year-over-year increase thanks to double-digit percentage gains from internet casino gaming and sports betting. Taxable revenue from iGaming hit $176.7 million, a 10.8% year-over-year increase. Additionally, year-to-date adjusted gross revenue rose to $1.5 billion. 

Revenue declined 3.8% from the $183.7 million in August 2024. Gross revenue in September totaled $227.4 million. That was the state’s second-highest total only behind $233.1 million in March. A record $43 million in credits and bonuses contributed to the $53.5 million AGR from a gross revenue amount of $95.8 million. That was a 46.1% year-over-year increase and was their fifth-highest total all-time. 

Online sportsbooks and iGaming casinos in Pennsylvania were able to take a 1.7% decline in casino revenue to $270.4 million. The state saw a 2.3% loss on table games to $73.4 million. In total, the state collected $211.2 million in taxes across all its gaming platforms. A total of $51.1 million came from internet casino gaming. Pennsylvania’s $6.21 billion wagered through iGaming casinos is the second-highest in state history.

What Pennsylvania online casino saw the most profit in September?

Hollywood Casino in Pennsylvania counts DraftKings, BetMGM, and their internal app as their online ventures in the state. In September, they combined for $66.9 million in revenue. That was up 3.2% year-over-year. This trio of operators was able to do more with less as revenue totals dropped 9.1% from $2.84 billion to $2.58 billion.

Valley Forge is home to the FanDuel sportsbook and their year-over-year gain was up 33% to $47.1 million. Their $1.73 billion worth of wagers is just second to the $1.75 million in March. The $1.73 billion is up 37.2% year-over-year. 

BetRivers was the only other iGaming operator in Pennsylvania to reach eight figures. They surpassed $30 million for the sixth time in seven months at $31.5 million in September. Harrah’s came in at number four with $8.5 million in revenue. Golden Nugget was in fifth with $4.7 million. 

Which brick-and-mortar casinos saw the most success?

Parx Casino and Wind Creek are the top two operators of brick-and-mortar casinos in Pennsylvania. With $30.2 million, Park Casino stayed in first place. However, Wind Creek was not far behind at $24.2 million. Wind Creek saw a 2.1% increase in September compared to Parx Casino’s 4.3% decrease.
