This week, the Arizona Department of Gaming released its betting figures for July, Retail and mobile operators in the state combined for $41.5 million in revenue before deductions. That was a 20% jump from their figures in July 2023 ($34.6) million. However, revenue did fall 10.2% from the $46.2 million collected in June 2024.

Once the Arizona Department of Gaming removed deductions from free bets and promotional credits, revenue was $29.0 million. That was up 8.1% year over year but down 8.3% from June’s figures. Arizona wagered $410.1 million in July, a 29.6% year-over-year increase. Despite the increase in revenue, the handle was down 9.7% month-over-month compared to $451.4 million wagered in June.

What Arizona sportsbooks were the most profitable in July?

Online operators accounted for a whopping 98.7% of the sports betting handle in July. That was $404.8 of the $410.1 million handle posted over the summer. To no surprise, the two leading sportsbooks in Arizona were DraftKings and FanDuel. They combined for more than half of Arizona’s handle in August.

DraftKings led the market with a $146.4 million handle and $16.1 million in revenue. Their industry competitor FanDuel was not far behind with a $125.8 million handle and $13.8 million in revenue. The remaining $5.4 million in the handle was from the four retail operators in the Arizona market.

Caesars retail sportsbook saw the most action with a $1.9 million handle. FanDuel’s retail operation finished with close to a $1.8 million handle and DraftKings had a $1.5 million handle. BetMGM’s retail sportsbooks contributed the remaining handle of $221,000. In terms of gross winnings for retail operators, FanDuel was on top in Arizona at $1.6 million.

Does Arizona sports betting have a positive outlook moving forward?

Compared to other states, Arizona is behind when it comes to releasing its sports betting figures. States like Indiana and West Virginia have already released their data from September. Meanwhile, Arizona is releasing its figures from July in October. There is optimism that Arizona sportsbooks are thriving right now during the NFL and college football seasons. It won’t be months until the data is released to see how well sportsbooks did in September. For the 2025 fiscal year so far, Arizona’s total stands at $864.3 million.
