Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets suffered a tough defeat at the hands of the Buffalo Bills on Monday night. After firing their head coach earlier in the week, the team looked to rally and save its season against a division opponent, but came up short after missing on some key opportunities.

With the loss, New York falls to 2-4 on the season. And while that is of course the biggest of his worries, Rodgers extended an unfortunate and perhaps uncharacteristic streak in the defeat.

Aaron Rodgers Has Zero 300+ Yard Games In his Last 27

It appears that Aaron Rodgers has been in a steady decline since winning the NFL MVP award in 2021. He threw for 37 touchdowns against the 4 interceptions on the season, and led the league in passer rating.

It was also the last time that he threw for 300 or more yards in a game.

After the loss to the Bills on Monday, Rodgers has now gone 27 straight games without throwing for 300+ yards. That is 1,037 days, easily the longest drought of his career, and seemingly exemplifies the quarterback’s steady fall from grace.

The last time that he eclipsed the 300 mark was with the Packers back on December 12th of 2021, when he threw for 341 yards in a Sunday Night Football win over the Chicago Bears. There was of course the missed season in 2023 with the Achilles injury, but Rodgers’ failed to his the mark in all 17 contests in 2022, and has yet to get there through six games this year.

Monday’s Game Was The Closest He’s Come

Monday was the closest he’s gotten since the streak began. Rodgers’ finished the night with 296 total yards, and had even eclipsed the 300 mark for a fleeting moment before a 13-yard pass got called back due to a holding penalty. His final throw of the night ended in a game-sealing interception.

With a win, New York would have taken over first place in the AFC East. Instead, Buffalo takes the lead at 4-2, and the Jets will have to find a way to win next Sunday Night when they travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers. The early betting line has Rodgers and company favored by 1 point.
