Tigers vs. Guardians ALDS Game 5 Start Time Moved Up

On Friday, Major League Baseball announced that Saturday’s ALDS Game 5 between the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians has a new start time.

Tigers vs. Guardians Start Time Moved Up

Due to forecasted inclement weather in Cleveland, the game between the Tigers and Guardians has been rescheduled from 8:08 p.m. ET to 1:08 p.m. ET.

TBS and Max will televise the game.

The winner of the game will advance to the ALCS to play the New York Yankees on Monday night at Yankee Stadium.

Facing a 2-1 series deficit, the Cleveland Guardians staved off elimination with a 5-4 victory on Thursday night to force a Game 5.

Down 3-2 in the seventh inning, David Fry hit a pinch-hit, two-run homer to give the Guardians a 4-3 lead. Fry would also lay down a successful bunt in the ninth inning to drive in an insurance run.

Game 5 Preview

The series moves to Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio, for Game 5.

Detroit will hand the ball to their ace, Tarik Skubal, the favorite to win the AL Cy Young. Skubal has been as close to perfect as a pitcher can be this season.

Skubal finished the regular season with an 18-4 record, 2.39 ERA, and 228 Ks. Skubal is 1-0 with 13 innings pitched, seven hits allowed, zero earned runs, and 14 Ks in starts this postseason.

In Game 2, Skubal tossed 7 shutout innings with 8 strikeouts in a 3-0 Tigers win.

Matthew Boyd will start for Cleveland.

The Detroit Tigers may be without Kerry Carpenter, who injured his hamstring on Thursday night.

Carpenter hit the go-ahead three-run homer in Game 2 to give Detroit the victory.
