Liverpool Defender Trent Alexander-Arnold

Former Liverpool man Glen Johnson has said that a glowing review from Jude Bellingham could seal Trent Alexander-Arnold’s transfer to Real Madrid. Johnson also said that moving to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium would help Alexander-Arnold quench his thirst for major trophies.

Trent Alexander-Arnold Heavily Linked With Real Madrid Move

Liverpool academy graduate Alexander-Arnold will become a free agent at the end of his contract on June 30, 2025. The Merseysiders greatly admire the right-back and want to keep him, but have not yet found a breakthrough. With Alexander-Arnold’s contract talks at a standstill, Real Madrid is circling, with many reports claiming the club is interested in signing him as a free agent next summer.

Alexander-Arnold fueled the speculation over the weekend by claiming he did not know what the future held for him. He expressed his affection for Liverpool but also said that his desire to win trophies would have a massive bearing on his final decision.

Glen Johnson Thinks Jude Bellingham Could Convince Trent Alexander-Arnold To Switch

Real Madrid midfielder Bellingham won the UEFA Champions League trophy and the La Liga title in his debut season at the club. Johnson believes a positive review from one of his closest friends Bellingham could convince Alexander-Arnold to sign for Real Madrid.

Speaking to Betfred, Johnson said (via GOAL):

The club is 95% of the pull itself but of course, if he speaks to Jude and Jude tells him how great it is there, then that could make his decision final. Let’s face it, if Real Madrid come calling, then that’s where most players will want to go. Jude could be the final piece in the puzzle when it comes to Trent making his decision, but I believe Trent would be up for the deal anyway, regardless of whether Jude is there or not.”

Johnson also addressed Alexander-Arnold’s comments about winning trophies. He added:

Real Madrid are guaranteed to win things. So for Trent, it’s never going to be about money at that level because everybody’s paid very well, so if it’s trophies that he wants, then Real Madrid will guarantee that, but Liverpool fans would love to see him stay and fight for trophies at Anfield.”

Alexander-Arnold has been at Liverpool all his life. He has so far played 316 games for the Reds in all competitions, scoring 19 goals and claiming 83 assists. He has won one Premier League title and one UEFA Champions League trophy with the Anfield outfit, amongst other honors.
