Dak Prescott Signs Massive Extension

It came down to the wire, but the Dallas Cowboys and quarterback Dak Prescott agreed to terms on a contract extension hours before the 2024 season.

Prescott agreed to terms on a massive four-year, $240 million contract, which includes $231 million guaranteed and an $80 million signing bonus.

How did Prescott respond to a new contract? The 31-year-old completed 19-of-32 passes for 179 yards and one touchdown in the Cowboys’ Week 1 33-17 victory over the Cleveland Browns.

Prescott becomes the highest-paid player in the NFL at $60 million per year. The Cowboys quarterback passed the previous record of $55 million per year held by Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow, Jacksonville’s Trevor Lawrence, and Green Bay’s Jordan Love.

Lawrence and Love both inked long-term extensions to reach the $55 million per year average.

Miami’s Tua Tagovailoa signed a four-year, $212.4 million extension with $167 million guaranteed. It’s the largest deal in the Dolphins’ history.

Detroit’s Jared Goff entered the top 10 highest-paid list after signing a four-year, $212 million contract extension that includes $170 million guaranteed.

Noticeably absent from the list is Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes. The best quarterback in the league is 13th in APY at $45 million.
