Jameis Winston will be back under center at some point during the New Orleans Saints‘ 2022 NFL schedule as he completes his comeback from a season-ending ACL tear. Michael Thomas will be on the receiving end of plenty of passes after missing the entirety of the 2021 campaign. Alvin Kamara will be looking to reassert himself as an elite running back following a year in which he recorded 1,337 yards and only nine touchdowns from scrimmage.

But will that be enough for the Saints to build upon last year’s 9-8 finish and make the playoffs as either the NFC South division winners or a wild-card representative?

The incoming draft class should help. Chris Olave is ready to make an immediate impact at wide receiver after turning 13 of his 65 catches into touchdowns during his final season at Ohio State, and Trevor Penning could make a quick impact on the offensive line if he can stomach the transition from FBS play to the NFL.

However, this is still about the established pieces in the Big Easy, all of whom will face some pressure to make a successful switch from life under Sean Payton to life under Dennis Allen. New Orleans made the postseason in nine of Payton’s 15 years at the helm, and this could be the organization’s first playoff berth under a different head coach since Jim Haslett steered a 10-6 ship during the 2000 campaign.
